Sulfur hexafluoride when inhaled provides the opposite effect of helium in that it lowers the tone of a users voice. Due to heliums lower than ambient oxygen density, sound travels over vocal cords twice as fast. Helium is 6x lighter than ambient oxygen causing a higher vocal tone whilst sulphur hexafluoride is 6x more dense than ambient oxygen therefore causing a lower register voice.
